What is Retreat Plus! ?
It’s a brand new and exciting IPCA event that will run alongside, and overlap with, the Synergy4 Conference.
When we started to plan Synergy4, we wanted to include a room for people who like to reconnect with their worldwide polymer friends and have ‘hands-on’ with clay in their own workspace. This room will have its own program, but we are also giving attendees the opportunity to experience part of the Conference program.
Retreat Plus! Events
The morning and afternoon General Sessions will be open to all, and you can see the wonderful line-up on the Program page. They are optional, but we’re sure you will want to attend some or all of them. The Retreat Plus! room will stay open during this time if you prefer to continue claying. We will all be together for the opening and final evening receptions, morning and afternoon breaks, lunches, the Banquet and Live Auction, which are all included in the cost.
During the Conference Program Breakout Sessions, there will be demos, both planned and impromptu, in the Retreat Plus! room. Karen Woods and Alison Gallant will show the variety of paints, powders and sealers and techniques they use with their silk screens on Monday evening and syndee holt will share her tips and tricks for using lots of tools we all own (but never use!), on Tuesday evening.
Turning a New Leaf Exhibition
Bring along finished work for an exhibition that reflects your interpretation of ‘Turning a New Leaf’.
Synergy4 Gallery & Vendor Hall
As a Retreat Plus! attendee, you will have the opportunity to book a space in the Gallery (subject to availability) to sell your polymer creations. We don’t charge for the space, but the IPCA takes a commission from sales and collects and pays the PA Sales tax due. The commission helps to offset the expenses involved in running the Gallery. We don’t permit any bartering or sales outside that room and expect all attendees to respect that. You’ll be able to see and buy work from artists who have come from all over the world.
Everyone who has a Gallery space volunteers to help out for one or two hours when the Gallery is open.
As well as the Gallery, we will have a Vendor Hall where you will find clay, tools, books etc. Both the Gallery and Vendor Hall are open at specified times outside the Conference Program.
Further information will be available before registration opens on January 9, 2017.
If you have any questions, please join the Synergy4 Retreat Plus! Facebook group and ask there, because there are bound to be others who have raised the same question!
