You are my Sunshine
This music box is about 1.5”x2.5”x3.5” tall. It is made entirely of polymer clay. My little granddaughter, Julia, was born in October three months premature. She’s doing great now, but it was a rough three months in the NICU. My daughter played the music box and sang “You are my Sunshine” to Julia as she held her. I decided to make a music box container for my daughter for Christmas. Because the music box itself could be replaced by another one with a different song, I needed to construct something that would permit that. The sides have mica shift hearts and Julia’s name is on one side. The top shows the sun peeking over a rainbow with a path of stones through a garden. Julia’s path has been challenging and may continue to be as she continues to “catch up” but we are hopeful that our feisty little ray of sunshine will prevail.

The title of my piece is "Lime Intrusion" created all in polymer clay (Polyform). The composition is based on a drawing I created for a Miniature Abstract Watercolor painting I did a number of years ago. Having liked the composition, which was inspired by a simple object, drawing the important parts and least important parts, I decided to use it to create another abstract but in polymer clay. It is actually a larger piece than the watercolor painting plus much more colorful. The piece is flat and framed under glass, but has a three dimensional feel. Having fallen in love with polymer clay, I find it challenging to paint using merged shapes and colors.

Description: This haunted tin is possessed by a prisoned spirit from beyond..... Once a pirate on the high seas, now a dangerous fiend. This moon-eyed demon will strike anything that comes near it, if deemed dangerous. Once the seal is broken, it will unleash unimaginable horrors.
