Framed Pendant Class June 18 - 19, 2015 Thursday and Friday 9:30 - 4:30 each day, with evening studio time Maureen Carlson's Center for Creative Arts in Jordan, MN USA Class Fee: $200.00 Experience Level: All levels In this class students will create several canes that will go into their framed pendant piece. If desired they can use the landscape cane from the previous class, June 15 - 17, as the center focal cane. For this class emphasis will be on tips for making successful micro canes to use in the structure of the frame. Julie's frames look very complex, but she will teach how she uses templates to create her precise frame construction. MDPAG presents a Workshop CANES CONTAINED With Lynda Gilcher In this workshop, learn how to construct a set of coordinating canes of different styles. The canes will then be used to create a full body polymer bowl using a form and special suggestions to help createrepeating patterns. Forms will be provided for students to use to build the bowls in class. Dependingon time, we may make other canes that could be usedfor additional bowl designs. MDPAG presents a Workshop SEA TREASURES With Kathy Bingaman will demonstrate how to add polymer clay to objects including corals, shells, and sea glass using poly bonder and TLS. We finish with mica powders and learn hand-sanding techniques. I am a scavenger, and have gathered items from the beach for years with these jewelry projects in mind. Each found piece “tells you” what it wants to be, and many turn out very humorous! Students may bring their own treasures to work with, or I will provide pieces from my personal collection available at a nominal fee. Learn the parameters of proportion for tinting and strategies for increasing (and decreasing) the vibrancy of your colors. Lindly will guide you, step by step, as you make a set of five color-coordinated canes that will feature translucent clay blends, embossing powders and opaque accents. She finds that the combinations of shape, color and texture lend themselves to unique wearable art. Her designs reflect her love of color, symmetry and clean lines, yet also allow for a bit of whimsy with incorporation of metal tubing, hardware, semi-precious gemstones and vintage found objects. Maureen Carlson's Center for Creative Arts in Jordan, MN USA Experience Level: All levels If you could create anything that you wanted to from polymer clay and mixed media supplies, what would you make?  Would it be a character, a doll, a wall piece, decorative items, jewelry or yard art?  Would it be made from polymer clay or fabric, Apoxie Sculpt or paper?  Would it involve paint or ink or textures, items from nature or from the local antique stores? While Maureen doesn't promise that ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is possible during Fantasy Week, she does promise that this will be a week for concentrating on your dreams and visions of artistic success.
